Director, Ueno Snoring Clinic
Kazuyuki Sugaya
As an anesthesiologist for over 20 years, I have managed anesthesia for 500 to 600 surgeries annually. In the operating room, I stand at the patient’s head—at the very bedside of the airway—to strictly monitor their systemic condition.
My mission as an anesthesiologist is to constantly monitor vital signs, ensuring I never miss subtle changes in oxygen saturation, chest wall movement, or airflow obstruction. Detecting and immediately responding to abnormalities in “sleep” and “breathing” is the very essence of my work.
In recent years, “minimally invasive surgery under intravenous anesthesia” has increased. In these cases, patients sleep while breathing on their own without intubation. While monitoring this natural sleep state during surgery, I frequently witness the occurrence of snoring.
Through the respiratory curves and blood oxygen saturation displayed on vital monitors, I have observed countless times the exact moment snoring begins and oxygen levels drop. I have felt that this occurs with alarming frequency.
From this experience, I can say with certainty:
Snoring is the “sound of breathlessness” and an SOS from the body.
Even if the person believes they are sleeping deeply, in reality, their body is enduring stress akin to suffocation night after night.
Furthermore, I once suffered from severe snoring myself. I have bitter memories of causing distress to my family and having my own medical practice hindered by intense daytime sleepiness.
After undergoing polysomnography, I was diagnosed with moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). While CPAP brought dramatic improvement, I sought even newer options and tried various treatments myself. I truly felt that “the right treatment changes your life.”
Driven by this experience, I operate this specialized clinic to bring the latest “Dual Deep Thermia” treatment to patients and families struggling with snoring.
We provide tailored treatments customized to each patient’s condition, striving daily for the fastest and safest improvement possible.
If you or your family members are concerned about snoring, please feel free to consult with us.
